This is my first ride of the month and at 75 km it’s also my longest cycle ride of the year so far.
In fact the last six rides have been progressively longer.
This is part of a planned program of rides intended to build up my fitness and better equip me to negotiate the many hills in this area.
I’ve set myself the objective of regularly riding 100 km routes here in hilly South Limburg.
100 km in a day was relatively easy when I lived in Weert, surrounded by very flat terrain, but much more of a challenge here.
The map below shows my tracked ride today & I paused for refreshments in the German village of Harzelt, at around the half-way point.
The return leg was somewhat harder as I found some very challenging forest trails, some barely wide enough to ride along but still enjoyable.
