Today’s cycle ride, just 25.4 km, was more of an errand than a ‘proper’ ride out.
I had purchased an item on Marktplaats, the Dutch version of eBay, and I made arrangements with the vendor to collect it from his home at Stramproy.
Straight there & back would be only 15 km so I took the scenic routes on the way there and on the way back.
I’m glad I did because the weather, once again, was fabulous warm sunshine and very little wind.
Even though I was never very far from home today, I still made new discoveries along the way. On the minor road Heltenbosdijk between Stramproy & Altweerterheide, just before it crosses Tungelroyse Beek, a raised vantage point has been provided, so that visitors can get a better view of the picturesque countryside surrounding it.
This is the Buiten Beeld (Out of View) initiative from Natuurmonumenten NL which provides portable, two metre high, viewing platforms in selected locations throughout the Netherlands.
Today’s windmill sighting is one at Stramproy, dating back to 1783.
