Today’s 40 km cycle ride was a loop to the north west of Heerlen.
Part of the ride was on the same route as Tuesday’s ride, but in the opposite direction.
At around the 20 km mark I stopped for a break outside the small Alfa brewery near the Dutch town of Schinnen.
Today’s featured image is of the ‘spring house’, where the spring water essential to beer making rises from underground.
I am familiar with Alfa beer, having tried one or two since living in this part of the world.
The brewery started making beer in 1870 and has been owned/managed by descendants of the founder, Joseph Meens ever since.
Apparently it’s also one of a few remaining independent breweries in the Netherlands and has won many accolades for it’s Bavarian style pils.
