Overcast skies greeted me as I set off this morning for my 77 km cycle ride.

The planned route was a loop to the north of Heerlen, about half of which was in open German countryside.

I’ve cycled this way frequently, so it’s familiar to me, but it was also nice to discover some new country roads.

After a while the sun appeared along with some blue sky and puffy white clouds.

Looking behind me the skies looked darker and I felt I was being chased by rain clouds for a while.

I was happy to arrive home without experiencing any precipitation.
