I have not ridden a bike since May 20th, due to a ten day visit to the UK, a long weekend away here in the Netherlands and then a 9 day project to completely refurbish our bedroom.

Therefore today’s 67 km circuit to the south-west of Heerlen was a most welcome way of getting back to my cycling.

The area I cycled through today is known as the Heuvelland, a particularly hilly area of South Limburg and adjoining Belgium.

The area is also known as the ‘Dutch Hills’.

I’ve ridden some of these very hilly roads previously and was happy to use my E-Bike on my first ride out for over a month.

Leaving home a little after 06:00 I found the roads and cycle paths were deserted so good progress was made.

Today’s featured image is of the newly restored ‘Molen op de Vrouweheide’ near Ubachsberg, within the Heuvelland and only a few km from home.

This was a really beautiful early morning cycle ride.
