What a fabulous cycling month this has been for me!
During the 14 separate cycle rides in July, I cycled a total of 1007 km, only the third time I have exceeded 1000 km in a month ever and the first time since September 2021.
Of course, the absolute highlight of the month was my completion of the Zuiderzeeroute which I made a start on in March before having to abandon due to extreme weather conditions.
This took me six days to cycle around Ijsselmeer and then back home to Heerlen, a total of 630 km.
Another highlight was the two day, 213 km ‘West-Bike Route’ in Germany.
The longest one day cycle ride was 113 km from Vollenhove to Zeewolde as part of the Zuyderzeeroute.
The greatest elevation gain in a single day was 423 metres on the ride to Vijlen.
This month’s photographs can be found here and a summary of my rides is here.
One of the most satisfying elements of my cycling this month is the discovery of new routes and new adventures which is becoming increasingly difficult as time goes on.
I have quite a few new 2 day/200 km + routes planned which seems to be an effective way to have new adventures a little further from home.
