This morning’s cycle ride was a 60 km loop to the north of Heerlen, mostly over the border in Germany.

With extreme temperatures forecast, I left home just before 06:30, and was back home before it became uncomfortably hot for cycling.

It’s also nice to be home to watch today’s stage of the Tour de France!

This was my first ride for two weeks but I was happy that my fitness has not diminished too much.

Last week I needed to replace the steering headset bearings, which had become corroded and stiff.

I replaced them with better quality sealed headset bearings and I’m happy to report they have made a big improvement to the bike’s steering.

Today’s featured image was taken at around 30 km into the ride, near the German village of Wildenrath.
