Today’s cycle ride started at 05:00, my earliest start of the year so far.
The 51 km loop, to the north-east of Heerlen, was mostly in Germany on familiar roads and cycle tracks.
I never tire of cycling in this area, I like the expansive countryside, the tranquility at this time of day and the decent cycling infrastructure.
I wanted to be away from the urban areas and into the countryside before the sun came up, hoping to capture some great early morning photos.
Today’s featured image was taken near the German village of Floverich; a large field of almost ripe barley, destined for either animal feed or beer making.
The return leg of the route was into a moderate head-wind, something quite common in the predominantly flat, un-sheltered countryside.
However, I was still home before 09:00, just in time for breakfast!
