This morning I set off around 07:00 for a great 65 km cycle ride to the west of Heerlen.

My route took me to the outskirts of the city of Maastricht, and past Maastricht Aachen Airport.

Around the perimeter there are several old aircraft being stored from the now defunct British airline, Flybe.

Today’s featured image is of the ‘Torenmolen van Gronsveld’, a windmill dating from 1623.

It has quite an unusual design and has the distinction of being the southern-most windmill in the Netherlands as well as being the oldest in the province of Limburg.

A really glorious morning for cycling and I was home before the temperature increased too much for comfort.
