Today’s 52 km cycle ride was a loop to the north-west of Heerlen, on deserted country lanes and cycle tracks.

When I left home before 08:00 it was sunny but a very cool 12c and quite windy.

I soon warmed up and had only cycled 5 km before encountering my first deviation of the day.

A much used cycle path is being resurfaced so I had to go a different way, adding about 1 km to the ride.

Not so much of an inconvenience, especially when I see the municipality investing money on improving the extensive cycling infrastructure.

Today’s featured image is from Kasteel Hoensbroek, around 10 km from home.

I have cycled past this impressive castle many times in the past 3.5 years so today I stopped for a while and wandered into the inner courtyards.

Certainly another great morning out on the bike.
