This weekend I cycled 115 km, over two days, to re-visit the Meinweg National Park, to the north of Heerlen.

Meinweg is about 1800 hectares in size and is adjacent to the border with Germany.

I’ve cycled this way before, but never this late in the year.

Autumn is well established by now and the golden colours are so attractive.

Unfortunately the skies were overcast both days and without the benefit of some sunshine, photos can look a little flat.

Today’s featured image is a typical landscape from the heart of the park, which has an abundance of cycle tracks throughout.

I stopped overnight at a great B&B in the village of Effeld, just over the border in Germany.

This trip was also the first opportunity for me to try out my new winter cycling clothing, which I’m happy to say kept me nice and warm despite 6c temperatures for much of the weekend.
