I left home before 07:00 this morning for my 106 km cycle ride along the Maas valley to the west of Heerlen.

On my way towards Maastricht I passed through the scenic Dutch town of Valkenberg.

From here I deviated slightly from my planned route and came across the extensive grounds of Chateau St. Gerlach.

Scattered around the lawns were many sculptures and artworks which means I took plenty of photos!

I the continued through Maastricht and then rode 20 km alongside the waterways of the Maas valley, before heading homewards.

Today’s featured image is of theMaas at Grevenbicht where I took the free cycle/pedestrian ferry across the river.

Extreme wind conditions again today, especially on the return route home.
