August was another great summer cycling month for me.
I cycled a total of 739 km on 9 different rides.
This included a nice two day, 192 km tour of the Maasvallei, and the longest ride of the month, the 204 km trip to Leopoldsburg, Belgium, again over two days.
My longest one day ride was to a loop via Hastenrath, Germany, a total distance of 95 km.
The greatest elevation gain in a single day was 754 metres, again on the ride to Hastenrath.
The two day rides were particularly satisfying as they enable me to explore both new and old routes further away from home.
Photographs from August can be found here and the route summary is here.
I have many more exciting rides planned for the rest of the year.
However, September includes a two week, non-cycling, holiday to Italy, which we are very much looking forwards to.
So far this year I have cycled a total of 3865 km, with 56 rides logged.
That’s an average of 69 km per ride.
In reality it’s not about the distance cycled but the quality of the journey, the adventure and new discoveries.
