Today’s 95 km cycle ride was a loop to the east of Heerlen, mostly through open German countryside.
I left home before 06:00 mainly in the hope I could get some good sunrise pictures but also to be home again before the temperatures got too high.
My ride was almost exclusively on country lanes and cycle paths that I’ve ridden before.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to discover new routes this close to home, but I have a few ideas to change that in the future.
They include more two day routes or half by train, half by bike just so I can explore new parts of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Today’s featured image, taken at 07:45, is the descent down to the German village of Hastenrath, with hectares of fruit trees on the edge of the village.
This was certainly a very enjoyable day out on the bike, with more to come later in the week.
