About 20 km into today’s cycle ride I took a short detour to take a look at Sarsven en de Banen, a wetlands nature reserve just south of Nederweert-Eind in Limburg.
This is such a peaceful spot, it’s been 23 degrees here today so I sat in the sunshine for a while, reflecting on the perilous state of the world right now and, of course, thinking how much my Dad would love it here.
The rest of my 44 km ride took me back to Weert through busy farmland & deserted villages.
As I approached Swartbroek, the magnificent windmill dating back to 1849, was turning it’s sails, casting a moving shadow on the road in front of me.
