This morning’s 44 km cycle ride was a picturesque loop to the west of Heerlen, amongst the rolling hills of South Limburg.

It was sunny when I left home, but only 4c so I had to pedal quickly to get warm.

My route was along entirely familiar roads/cycle tracks as it’s becoming increasingly difficult to discover new routes so close to home.

In the 3.5 years I’ve lived in Heerlen, I have cycled almost 16000 km, starting or finishing at home.

Of course it’s nice to become familiar with the highways and byways closer to home.

However my sense of adventure and discovery requires me to find longer, multi-day routes never previously explored, more of which another day!
