This morning’s 51 km cycle ride was timed to avoid the heavy rain forecast for later in the morning.

My idea worked and I completed the loop to the north of Heerlen just as the rain arrived.

I have invested in decent wet weather clothing so am normally not too bothered about riding in the rain.

However I have a 7 day cycle tour starting on Saturday so I’d rather keep everything clean and dry until then.

Once on a tour, of course, I just have to take the weather as it comes, staying as warm and dry as possible during inclement weather.

My route was all on familiar territory as it’s the reverse of a previous ride.

The featured image today was taken just over the border, close to the German village of Gangelt.
