This morning’s 33 km cycle ride was a nice loop through forests and moorland to the north of Heerlen.

I had barely started the ride when my chosen route was completely blocked due to the cycle track being re-surfaced.

The only obvious alternative was a very rough and sodden footpath, which proved to be completely un-rideable.

Such was the terrain, for about 500 metres, I was forced to push or carry a rather heavy eBike until I reached solid ground again.

My route continued through the woodlands of Brunssumerheide, and then into Teverener Heide in nearby Germany.

Today’s featured image is of Kiefernsee, one of many small lakes in this scenic area.

Home in less than two hours, a really nice excursion for a Sunday morning.
