This morning’s cycle ride was a shortened version of what I had originally planned.

I’ve not been feeling 100% these past few days, maybe a cold or some other bug, so I only managed an 18 km ride today.

It was a nice autumn morning, not cold and the sun trying to make an appearance.

At about the 8 km point I came across the observation platform on Koolkoelenweg, near the site of a long-closed coal mine on the northern edge of Heerlen.

Today’s featured image is from under the observation platform.

After a few photos I decided to head for home via the woodlands of Brunssummerheide.

It was nice to get out for a while, to stretch the legs and get some fresh air.

Hopefully I’ll shake off whatever bug is bothering me in time for the long multi-day ride planned for the coming weekend.
