August was something of a disappointing cycling month for me.

Although I made five nice rides totalling 291 km, that was not what I had planned.

For the last two weeks of the month we had our holiday in Lago d‘Iseo in northern Italy.

We drove down, with my cycle on the back of the car, fully intending to explore the area on two wheels.

In the end the hot weather put an end to my cycling plans, with temperatures exceeding 30c most days.

Even at 06:00 it was 26c, far too warm for me to take a decent cycle ride.

Of the five rides I managed in the Netherlands this month, the longest was the 83.6 km to Blegny Mine which also had the greatest elevation gain of 971 metres.
