As I sit here writing this on New Year’s Eve, it’s barely above zero outside and windy, hardly ideal cycling conditions.

However adverse weather isn’t the only reason why I’ve only ridden twice this month, totalling just 47 km.

About two weeks ago I suffered a debilitating bout of gastroenteritis.

This was caused, I later discover, by drinking contaminated water from a seemingly clean water bottle.

Closer examination of the bottle revealed green algae/mould inside the bottle which was immediately discarded.

The two rides I did manage were great fun as they were predominantly off-road through local woodlands.

Both me and the bike were both covered with mud as a result and it took me about two hours to get the bike clean again.

The December collection of routes may be found here and 87 new photographs are in my galleries here.
