Today I cycled another 31 km mostly through forests and nature reserves to the north of Heerlen.

Cycling is a great way to explore the South Limburg countryside and connect with nature.

For the second day running I used routes from my local MTB (Mountain Bike) club.

These routes have really taken me out of my comfort zone as the designated MTB forest tracks are really extreme in places and very challenging for me.

For the time being I think I will stick to the routes I plan myself.

Then I will know exactly the type of terrain and tracks that I can expect along the way.

Today’s featured photo was taken where I stopped for a break just to the east of the woodlands of Teverener Heide.

This country lane runs along the border of the Netherlands with Germany. I paused in the Netherlands and across the lane is Germany.
